Covid Video Poems

Poems from Lockdown
2020-2021
Simon Penny

Overview
These are poems written during covid lockdown. I took long walks in the arroyo by my house where, as it happened, major earthmoving was going on to maintain flood protection for low-lying suburbs downstream in Los Angeles.

"She Watched Her Father Die"
I shot video of some of this, the brutal demolition of trees, scrubland and habitat somehow paralleled the demolition of social ‘habitat’ for me. Evan Stanfield manipulated some of the video to provide a visual for the poems. Shown at Art In the plague Years. California Center for Photography.
